Either way, it's easy for Ross Laidlaw in the home goal.

  7. 'Roofe deserves run of luck' - Bealepublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Ross County v Rangers (12:30)

Michael Beale has been explaining his three changes from the midweek draw with PSV Eindhoven.

"It is about picking the right team to get the job done and chopping and changing in the right areas," the Rangers manager tells BBC Scotland.

"Kemar Roofe has had a period of rehab and we have been holding him back, but he looks fit and ready and it is a chance for him to stake his claim. His goals per game is up there with anybody's and he deserves a run of luck in terms of fitness.

"It is early in the season, but we have to get the next three points in front of us and get the strong performance we need."

The magnitude of the week speaks for itself.

It could be incredible for Michael Beale or an absolute disaster.

But today is huge for Rangers.

  10. Beale line-up shows respect for County - Mackaypublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Ross County v Rangers (12:30)

Ross County manager Malky Mackay has been talking about the number of goals his side have been scoring recently.

"Last five games of last season, we started that and we have continued that this season," he tells BBC Scotland.

"We created chances against Celtic and scored a few against St Johnstone. So our message today is that we will get chances today and we have to take them.

"I know Michael Beale well and I know he will be making sure we will be in for a tough task. He's chosen most of the players that faced PSV and that's the respect he has given us."

  11. Game of the weekend at Fir Park?published at 12:18 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Motherwell v Kilmarnock (15:00)

    Prem picks

Two Premiership sides quick out the blocks this season are Motherwell and Kilmarnock.

Well have carried on where they left off last season with some solid league performances, but their Viaplay Cup run was halted by St Mirren last weekend.

Killie pulled off the result of the second round by knocking out holders Celtic, having also beaten Rangers in their league opener.

Results in fixtures like Sunday's could prove crucial to both sides' hopes of finishing in the top six come May.

There's also history of drama between these two. Last term, 10-man Kilmarnock fought back from two goals down in December to salvage an incredible 2-2 draw, and Callum Slattery's sumptuous free-kick earned Well a last-gasp point at Rugby Park.

    More of that please, chaps...

  14. Hagi absence significant?published at 12:10 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Ross County v Rangers (12:30)

Ianis Hagi is a notable absentee from Rangers' bench, which will add to speculation that the Romania midfielder could be on his way out of Ibrox.

Manager Michael Beale said yesterday that the 24-year-old could yet stay despite finding others currently ahead of him in his first-team plans. However, newspaper reports have since linked Hagi with a move to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

You can read that report and suggestions that Celtic have agreed a deal to sign winger Luis Palma from Aris - and Aberdeen are poised to recruit striker Pape Habib Gueye from Kortrijk - in today's Scottish Gossip.

  16. County seeking first win over Rangerspublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Ross County v Rangers (12:30)

Only one goal has separated the sides in their last two meetings, but County have still to experience the joy of a win over Rangers in 22 meetings down the years.

The Ibrox side have won the last four of those since Matthew Wright's late equaliser in a 3-3 draw in Dingwall in January 2022 - one of only four draws they have managed against today's visitors.

  17. Manager watch: Lee Johnsonpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Hibernian v Livingston (15:00)

    Media caption,

    Highlights: Hibernian 0-5 Aston Villa

Hibs' season has gone from crisis to triumph and back to crisis.

The highs of European wins over Inter d'Escales and Luzern have been counterpunched by a first-leg loss to Inter, opening Premiership defeats by St Mirren and Motherwell and a brutal 5-0 midweek loss to Aston Villa.

Progress to the Viaplay Cup quarter-finals was secured last weekend, but only after a hard-fought win over second-tier Raith Rovers.

With Hibs' European campaign all but over, another league loss would intensify pressure on Lee Johnson.

"It hurts me more than anybody, it hurts the players but we have an honest appraisal that is often emotive," said the Easter Road manager on Friday.

David Martindale's Livingston certainly won't give them it easy in Leith today.

  20. Matondo unlucky not to start?published at 11:48 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    Ross County v Rangers (12:30)

Rabbi Matondo doesn't look too bothered here, but there's no place for him in the Rangers XI after his fine cameo on Tuesday.

Perhaps he's getting saved for next week's return leg in Eindhoven.

Gers fans, should the winger be in the side today? Get on those thumbs...
