    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

    Matthew Upson

Former England defender for BBC Sport

He has to hit the target there.

If he does so with that kind of power it's in the back of the net, and it should be

  2. CLOSE!

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

Cray Valley holding firm at the back although they have conceded a string of corners.

Chem Campbell heads the latest of them from Karoy Anderson just past the upright. Good chance that.

If the visitors could get into the changing room only a goal down at the break I suspect Steve McKimm would be delighted.

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

    Matthew Upson

Former England defender for BBC Sport

That's a good save from Freeman - I'm not surprised he's punching the air.

Tedic had one thing in mind.

  4. GREAT SAVE!

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

Slobodan Tedic lashes in a fierce shot from the edge of the area and Cray Valley keeper Sam Freeman is able to dive up and to his right to tip the ball over the bar with... some part of his glove, anyway. They all count.

    Corner comes to nothing.

  5. Post update

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

A sight of goal for Cray Valley. Charlton concede possession in their own half through Lucas Ness and the visitors work the ball down the left of the Addicks area before the ball is played to Sonny Black who sees an effort charged down.

At the other end James Abankwah's volley deflects past the far post before Cray Valley launch a counterattack from the corner, Kyrell Lisbie eventually getting crowded out on the left of the area.

End-to-end stuff and every challenge is being cheered raucously by the Cray Valley fans.

  6. Post update

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

As a spectacle the early Charlton goal has probably taken the edge off this one.

Wolves loanee Chem Campbell is showing some nice touches for the hosts, drifting inside and threatening every time he gets on the ball. The 20-year-old made his Wolves debut as a 16-year-old.

  7. Post update

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

    Matthew Upson

Former England defender for BBC Sport

That's more like it from Cray Valley.

I've been impressed with Black. He has done well in the centre of midfield.

His anticipation winning balls back has been really good and that's a much better delivery into the box. It does ask a question.

  8. Post update

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

First glimpse of goal for Cray Valley's Kyrell Lisbie who goes to pull the trigger from Matthew Vigor's pullback from the right of the area, James Abankwah is however on hand with a superbly-timed block to send the ball spinning behind for a corner.

Some neat approach play from the Millers.

  9. Post update

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

A nightmare start for Cray Valley, they don't seem too rattled, however. Pressing Charlton in their own half and then getting everyone behind the ball when Charlton break down the right.

Steve McKimm's side are going to have to work very hard though, that is already clear, and fatigue will surely become a factor as the game progresses.

  10. Post update

    Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

    Matthew Upson

Former England defender for BBC Sport

    He takes that really smoothly.

It's a run from deep in midfield, he sees the gap and the distance between the centre half and right back is just too much.

It's a tight call for offside, maybe the left back is just playing Fraser on, but it's a nice touch past the goalkeeper.

  11. GOAL: Charlton 1-0 Cray Valley PM

    Scott Fraser

Man City loanee Slobodan Tedic cleverly allows Karoy Anderson's through ball to run past him and into space for Scott Fraser to burst through on goal, skip past Sam Freeman and slot into the unguarded net.

Outlook not looking good for fairytales at the Valley, the hosts lead early on.

    Charlton 0-0 Cray Valley PM

    Matthew Upson

Former England defender for BBC Sport

You get the feeling that Freeman is going to have to have a good game for Cray Valley if they are going to get anything out of this game.

  13. GREAT SAVE!

    Charlton 0-0 Cray Valley PM

Chem Campbell lets fly from outside the box but Sam Freeman dives to his left to turn his drive around the post.

    Bright opening at the Valley.

  14. Post update

    Charlton 0-0 Cray Valley PM

Charlton's Slobodan Tedic is played down the left flank, his first time cut-back is perfect for Karoy Anderson but he can't time his effort coming actoss his body and the chance is gone.

Cray Valley apply some pressure at the other end and win the first corner of the game, though it comes to nothing.

  15. Post update

Charlton get us underway... the final action of the FA Cup First Round weekend.

  16. Nearly there...

    Charlton v Cray Valley PM

The Red Red Robin has bobbed over the Valley PA system and the players are out on the field.

Charlton have changed their entire XI from their midweek League One match.

Cray Valley are seeking to make history - no away side has ever won a tie against a team ranked so far ahead of them in the footballing pyramid. 117 places and five leagues apart. The magic of the cup.

    Kick-off is moments away...

  17. Gills next for winner...

Charlton v Cray Valley PM (17:30 GMT)

A trip to League Two Gillingham awaits one of these sides in the second round following this afternoon's draw.

A short trip down the A2 to Kent which would garner plenty of local interest no matter what happens tonight.

  18. Cray Valley what?

Charlton v Cray Valley PM (17:30 GMT)

The PM stands for Paper Mills, they don't just play evening games.

Records held by the Kent FA show the club was founded in 1919 - the team originally playing in green and white, matching the livery of the paper mills vehicles and company banner - and was supported by the Nash family who owned the paper mills until its closure in 1981.

The club have bounced around non-league football in the south east ever since but in the past dozen years have worked their way up from the Kent County League - the seventh step of non-league football - through the Kent League and Southern Counties East Football League to reach the South East Division of the Isthmian League.

  19. Happy Valley providing great drama

After Saturday's action Cray Valley PM remain 10th in Isthmian League South East, though they have scored 18 goals in their five games, securing 11 points, and boast five games in hand on the league leaders.

Along with Ramsgate, who will travel to AFC Wimbledon in round two, Steve McKimm's side will have their sights firmly on promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division come springtime.

They are four places and four points behind the Rams, making them the lowest-ranked team left in the competition following league rivals Sheppey's 4-1 home defeat by Walsall on Friday night.

Charlton are playing their first game in the competition this season – by contrast Cray Valley will be playing their ninth tie, with three replays and five wins so far, over Lordswood, Uxbridge, Northwood, Carshalton and Enfield.

Seven of the 24 goals which they have netted along the way have been scored by 19-year-old Kyrell Lisbie, the son of Addicks' Premier League hero Kevin Lisbie.

LIsbie's dad also has a place in Cray Valley folklore after helping them to the FA Vase Final in 2019 before hanging up his boots in his 40s last year.

  20. We're not done yet...

    Saving the best for last?

Potentially the most magical of all the FA Cup ties this weekend sees Cray Valley Paper Mills head to Charlton this evening.

The biggest mismatch in the FA Cup First Round, and one of the biggest in the competition in recent years, the eighth-tier Millers visit the League One big-guns who are 117 places above them in the football pyramid.

They don’t have far to go, just four miles separate the Badgers Sports Ground in Eltham from The Valley, home of the 1947 FA Cup winners.

Kick-off is at 17:30 GMT and you do not want to miss it.
