This weekend BBC Sport’s
selected FA Cup tie sees seventh tier Bracknell Town against National League Dagenham & Redbridge.
Dagenham aren’t in the best of
form , with pressure building on manager and former striker Ben
Strevens following a run that has brought just three points from the
last eight league games. It’s seven years since the club returned to the
National League after spending 2007-2016 in the EFL.
Their best FA Cup
run came as a non-league side in 2003, when they reached the fourth round.
Bracknell actually play over in
Sandhurst, sharing a stadium with that particular Berkshire-based team. They have twice made it through to the FA Cup first round, once in
2000 and again last year. They held their own for an hour against League One Ipswich, before superior fitness and experience got the better of them, with the game ending 3-0.
The joint management team of Jamie McClurg
and Carl Withers also took them to a play-off final, narrowly
missing out on promotion to National League South to Truro
City.
