    Not this time, Jude.

He is found on the left side of the box by Phil Foden but in trying to beat Giorgio Scalvini smashes his forehead into the chin of the Italian defender. The game is halted for both to receive treatment.

That penalty was very timely for England. They were struggling to create. Going forward, how many times are we going to be saying that a bit of Jude Bellingham inspiration helped England out of a hole?

England nearly caught out in identical fashion to the first goal there!

The ball is getting transferred out to the Italian right-hand side, and each time they do that, Berardi has plenty of space.

Di Lorenzo on the overlap was looking to play it in but Stones provided a vital tackle to stop the move.

    Italy nearly rework the trick.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo is fed in down the right for a low ball. This time, John Stones is there to poke the ball behind for a corner that Harry Maguire defends well.

Bellingham clearly on his way down there before the contact...

How is that not a red card with the last man bringing Bellingham down? Denial of a goal scoring opportunity, surely?

I understand it’s all about results but for once it would be great if England didn’t rely on penalties or set pieces. Kane has scored 21 pens for England and far too many in Southgate’s reign. It’s too slow and easy to play England and why we will never win a cup with him in charge

It's very hard to distinguish in real time.

I'm not sure that Di Lorenzo gets a piece of the ball, he probably doesn't. It looks like a good call.

Great direct play and one-two between Kane and Bellingham. The crowd were waiting for positivity and he has delivered it.

England aren't really moving the ball as quickly as you would like. They are getting their heads up but the pass is too slow.

The speed of the Italian attack for the goal, that is what created the space and caught England unawares.

At the moment it is just a little bit pedestrian, not moving quickly enough through the lines.

    England look nervous, Italy confident.

Gianluca Scamacca shifts the ball on to his left foot on the edge of the box and fires a shot that fizzes just wide, with Jordan Pickford committed to a dive.

    This crowd is very quiet.

Well that has soured the mood.

England had lifted the crowd with that good start but suddenly there is anxiety in the air after Italy's goal. England just need to settle down once more but that was not a setback they saw coming. Italy now look more confident.
