Anything can happen and the atmosphere is phenomenal.

The players will just get on with the game and it will be fantastic. I suspect the way Sunderland have played in the past their style will almost be suited against a Premier League side as they want to play it on the deck a lot.

Yes Sunderland are second favourites, but they are at home and Newcastle are on a awful run.

Maidstone in first FA Cup third-round tie since 1998

Maidstone United defied a 47-place gap in the footballing pyramid to reach the FA Cup third round, stunning League Two high-fliers Barrow.

The National League South side last played a third-round tie in 1988, when they were beaten by Sheffield United.

George Elkobi's side, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, host Stevenage, who are 69 places higher in League One.

Stevenage, have beaten Tranmere Rovers and Port Vale so far in the FA Cup this season, and will have fond memories from last year's third round as they inflicted a shock defeat on Aston Villa.

Coventry City are unbeaten in seven and moving along nicely in the Championship under Mark Robins, chasing a spot in the play-offs for a second successive season.

The Sky Blues were dumped out of the FA Cup in the third last year after a 4-3 shock defeat by Wrexham, who were in the National League at the time.

Robins will be hoping to avoid the same fate today when his side take on Oxford United, who sit fifth in League One and are also pushing for a play-off place.

The U's were also knocked out at the third round last season, but they fell to the Premier League's Arsenal.

Forward Patrick Roberts remains absent through injury so Ukrainian Nazariy Rusyn continues to deputise in attack.

Kieran Tripper, who missed the defeat by Liverpool on Monday with a groin problem, has passed a late fitness test and comes back as one of two changes as Tino Livramento drops to the bench.

Miguel Almiron also comes in to replace teenager Lewis Miley.

The Black Cats Bar, to be used by away fans, was furnished with Newcastle signage for today's game.

Sunderlans fans were understandably furious and they have been removed.

Among them was "cheer up Peter Reid" - a reference to a Toon chant about the former Sunderland manager.

Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus says he was "disgusted".

"I regret to have let you down," the 27-year-old told fans.
