Redditch United B will compete this afternoon in the Male veterans category and are no strangers to the blood, sweat and tears needed to claim FA People’s Cup glory.

Over the past five years the team have raised over £10,000 for Macmillan, Help for Heroes, Bliss and Dementia UK, after completing the Three Peaks challenge, a London to Paris bike ride, and a New Years’ Day swim in Newquay (better you than me).

As well as today’s competition, team members Adrian Clements and Bob Cox will be running the Paris Marathon for charity in April and cycling the Cardiff Velothon and completing the Great North Run in September.

Today the team will compete in Bristol for a place in the FA People’s Cup Grand Final. The very best of luck!

  8. 'Walking football saved my life'

    #PeoplesCup

We've had some great stories sent to us over this People's Cup weekend by this one from Shrewsbury Town Walking Football is up there with the most inspirational.

The team reached the finals after they scored two goals in the last minute to force a penalty shootout in the first round, which they won thanks to 'keeper George Buckley who saved two penalties and scored the winner.

But that is only half of the story.

Two of the team have recovered from heart scares to take part in today's semi-finals, including captain Tony Balecke.

It was during last years People's Cup Tony realised he had a heart defect, and due to walking football he was diagnosed and underwent successful surgery last December and now believes walking football has saved his life.

Truly inspirational, this is what the FA People's Cup is all about.

We'd all like to wish Shrewsbury Town good luck in Nottingham today.
