  1. Giants end European campaign with famous winpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Belfast Giants 3-2 Dynamo Pardubice

Pardubice threw the kitchen sink at the Giants in the last few minutes but Tyler Beskorowany said not tonight but he had help.

Blocked shots, sticks in the shooting lanes - superb from the Giants.

They finish 17th of 24 clubs in the CHL missing out on the play-offs by one place and one point.

That will be disappointing but they have won three games and did themselves, the Elite League and Northern Ireland proud in this campaign.

What cost them? Well on the road their powerplay and penalty kill were poor and at this level they can't be.

They lost a game 2-1 in Innsbruck that they could and should have won but they've given the home fans three great performances and no one will forget the 1-0 win over Salzburg with that sudden death winner just 4.4 seconds from the end.

And they finished above last season's European champions Tampere in the standings.

It's back to Elite League business on Saturday on the road in Coventry and the Challenge Cup with Glasgow the visitors on Sunday and that's when we'll be back live at 3.45pm.

    Belfast Giants 1-2 Dynamo Pardubice

The Giants fail to capitalise on a late powerplay but can count themselves unlucky to be behind after the first period.

They may hear the news at the end of the period that they can no longer progress to the knockout stages after Trinec beat Aalborg 4-0.

However pride and the chance to beat a top European team will be motivation enough.

  16. The puck is dropped and the game is on...published at 18:59 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Dynamo Pardubice

Unfortunately as the game gets underway here in Belfast it's almost over in Trinec where the home side lead Aalborg 3-0 which would mean that even a win tonight wouldn't be enough for the Giants to process to the last 16.

However three wins would be a super return for Adam Keefe's side from Europe's premier competition. How tough is it? Last year's champions Tampere haven't reached the play-offs either.

No Daniel Tedesco in the line-up for the Giants tonight....the game is on...

    Belfast Giants v Dynamo Pardubice

It's the sixth and final round of qualification games in the Champions Hockey League with Czech side Dynamo Pardubice visiting the SSE Arena to take on the Belfast Giants.

The Giants have slim hopes of making the top 16 and the knockout stages but have the opportunity to win three of their six games for the first time in their history of playing in the CHL.

Belfast’s excellent netminder is Tyler Beskorowany who is coming off back-to-back shutouts at home and sports an impressive 2.01 GAA and 93.06 SV%.

The Czech side has already qualified for the Playoffs. They have been a dominant force all season as seen by their fifth-ranked powerplay (24.00%) and eighth-ranked penalty kill (86.36%).
