Summary

  • Belfast Giants v Glasgow Clan (16:00 BST)

  1. Giants run their winning streak to 13 gamespublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 22 October 2023

    Belfast Giants 5-2 Glasgow Clan

It's another win for the Belfast Giants who now have a 13 game winning streak in all competitions and have yet to be beaten domestically this season.

It's also six-for-six in the Challenge Cup Group stages meaning the Giants are on course to be top seeds heading into the knockout stages which carries with it home ice advantage all the way to the final.

This was a tight game for two periods with Glasgow playing well and with the Giants in some penalty trouble and it wa sonly a 2-1 game with plenty of time remaining but the Giants, so far the season, have the self belief and confidence not to panic and they find a way to win and that's once again what they did.

How serious is the injury to Jackson Whistle? That might be a problem for the Giants moving forward as they like to rest Tyler Beskorowany when they can but it's another solid win for Adam Keefe's side...

He may be pitching in relief today but Tyler Beskorowany has shut the door on the Clan since replacing Jackson Whistle.

Ryan Harrison with a clean breakaway is stopped not once, but twice by the Giants netminder.

At the other end a skate save from Kielly stops Ciaran Long adding to the Giants lead.

It's not a goal Jake Kielly will want to see back.

A nice breakout from their own zone by the Giants and Mark Cooper's drop pass is picked up by Greg Printz who shoots and the puck squeezes between the pads of Kielly.

It's a soft goal for the Giants but they'll take it.

    Belfast Giants 0-0 Glasgow Clan

Strange sequence of events. Jackson Whistle dives, goalkeeper style to try and catch the puck. In doing so he is clearly hurt.

Whistle tries to play on, makes a couple of saves and then gets run over by the Clan's Michael Pelech.

Giants Charlie Curti steps up and drops the gloves with Pelech.

Whistle has to leave the game and Tyler Beskorowany comes in.

Pelech gets 2+5 while Curti gets 2+10 for instigation. Giants fans not happy.

  19. It's a Hockey Sunday in Belfast....published at 15:51 British Summer Time 22 October 2023

    Belfast Giants v Glasgow Clan

Good afternoon and welcome to the SSE Arena in Belfast for this afternoon's Challenge Cup Group A clash between the Belfast Giants and Glasgow Clan.

The Giants could end the group stage with a 100% record, and therefore likely top seeds going into the next round, if they can beat Glasgow.

The Giants have yet to drop a point in domestic competition this season.

Clan, meanwhile, would move into second place in Group A if they can be the first team to defeat the Giants this season. If not, they'll have one game left against Dundee Stars to improve their points percentage ahead of the knockout stages.

Both sides are coming of Elite League wins on Saturday night as the Clan beat Dundee 4-1 and the Giants had a road win in Coventry, 5-3.
