Ben Bowns and Cardiff held on under an onslaught of Giants pressure in the closing stages to sweep the two games in Belfast.

The Devils will be delighted because it's not often sides come to the SSE Arena for two games and leave with two wins

It was a better performance from the Giants in game 2 but to take a one-goal lead into the final period and not be able to close it out will be disappointing.

It's the start of February and the Giants still have not found any real consistency.

Realistically both sides are playing for play-off seeding which in the Elite League doesn't really count for much.

This weekend Cardiff were the better team.

Devils are back in front with a wrist shot from between the hash marks by Cole Sanford. His second of the game.

The Devils started the period strongly and equalise when a lose puck falls kindly onto the stick of Cole Ully.

Been an entertaining game for the large crowd in Belfast to enjoy.

Can the Giants pull off a victory or will Cardiff come back to sweep the doubleheader?

Off we go for what promises to be an exciting third period

There was a lot happening in that period.

Jackson Whistle was superb to keep the Devils lead at just the one goal after the Welsh side threatened to take over the game.

Then came that really bad hit from behind by Ryan Barrow that turned the game around as the Giants scored twice on the major penalty.

But in a game of swings of momentum it was Cardiff who finished the period strongly.

This game could go either way.

Giants lead thanks to some great puck movement and the one-timer from Ara Nazarian.

They make Cardiff pay for the hit from Barrow and take the 3-2 lead with four minutes to go in the period.

Took less than 30 seconds for Daniel Tedesco to score and tie the game.

A horrible hit from behind and into the boards by Devils Ryan Barrow leaves Jacob Friend prone on the ice.

The screens have been brought out as the Giants defenceman continues to receive treatment.

The good news is that at last Friend with help gets up and skates to the locker room.

Giants being out-muscled by a Devils side that is peppering Jackson Whistle and the netminder is making save after save to keep his side in the game.

Devils don't score on the powerplay but they take the lead soon after.

Jackson Whistle makes a super stop from Joey Martin who was left all alone in front of the Giants net but Cole Sanford is on hand to pick up the rebound.

Henrik Eriksson took a late cross-checking penalty in the first period so Cardiff have the chance to take the lead if they can get their powerplay clicking.

Good first period of hockey.

Giants started well but Adam Keefe will not be happy coughing up another shorthanded goal.

Devils got momentum from scoring and Jackson Whistle has made a couple of good saves to keep the game tied.

Giants have made a decent start to this game and perhaps they've found a top line with David Goodwin, Ben Lake and Daniel Tedesco with a great opening shift.

Jackson Whistle gets the start between the pipes for the Giants this afternoon after coming on in relief of Tyler Beskorowany last night.

Ben Bowns, who thwarted the Giants attempted third period comeback, will try to record the doubleheader sweep of the Devls.

No Greg Printz or Bobby MacIntyre for the Giants who ice eight defencemen.

Belfast Giants host Cardiff Devils for the second part of their weekend double-header from 4pm.

After a Devils 6-3 win on Saturday night, the Giants slipped to fourth in the Elite League standings, three points behind Cardiff and now a point adrift of Guildford

Leaders Sheffield are not playing tonight, but would likely be hoping for a Giants win to keep them 16 points clear at the top.
