Mercedes-EQ's Nyck de Vries moved top of the drivers' championship with victory in the first of back-to-back races in Valencia.

Saturday's rain-hit E-Prix was extended by a lap after it was stopped five times for the safety car.

Energy management became the deciding factor as carefully planned strategies were thrown into kilter.

De Vries was able to capitalise, overtaking long-time leader Antonio Felix da Costa on the final lap.

Nico Mueller came through into second place, with De Vries' Mercedes team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne finishing third.

Britain's Sam Bird fell from top of the overall standings to third place after his Jaguar Racing car failed to finish.
