Rochdale Mayfield have long been a rich breeding ground for rugby league talent, with Super League players such as Matty Lees and Jack Ashworth of St Helens and Warrington’s new signing Matty Ashton having come through the ranks here.

They are the sister club of Rochdale Hornets, with many former Mayfield players having made the step up from the National Conference League to play at Spotland.

The visitors, North Wales Crusaders, were only formed in 2012, but they still have plenty of pedigree - they emerged formed from the ashes of former Super League club Celtic Crusaders, also known as Crusaders Rugby League.
