    Women's curling round-robin matches

We have a rare early-morning curling session with no British involvement but I suspect Eve Muirhead and her team will be keeping close tabs on how the women's matches go.

Reigning Olympic champions Sweden play Canada, with both sides having won one and lost one so far. Sweden's defeat was the 8-2 mauling by Muirhead's rink.

Canada steal one in the first end after a poor final stone by Sweden skip Anna Hasselborg. The second end is blanked but Hasselborg atones for her early mistake by taking a two in the third to lead 2-1.

South Korea, who beat GB on Friday, are 3-2 up against the winless Russian Olympic Committee team, while Denmark lead Japan 2-1 in the other match.

The British quartet are next in action at 12:05 GMT today, when they take on the United States.

We're heading to a bit of snowboard cross relay now and the white stuff is coming down thick, so visibility may be a bit problematic. First though, what's the drill at the curling?

Breaking news: it’s snowing in the mountains, and has been quite heavily too.

Spotted these guys on my car ride up to the snow park this morning - a thankless task given none of us are allowed to walk on these paths because they’re outside the bubble!

  9. Welcome to day eight...published at 01:41 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2022

Yes you hardened bunch, it's day eight of the 2022 Winter Games.

So far we've established that Germany and Norway are pretty handy at this stuff and Great Britain isn't so great in this field. That said we hold hope we're just a slow burner and that the dam is about to burst, sending a river of medals our way.

There are six medals on offer today in all. I have a feeling we might clean up. But it is 01:30 BST, I have had a strong coffee and there's every chance I'm hallucinating.

Anyway, here's the medal table at the start of play.

It's the wee small hours on a Saturday morning. Somewhere in the land of China some daredevil athletes are getting ready to do crazy and typically cold things.

But the real heroes are at home in bed or on the sofa, tuning into a BBC Sport live service to see what the next episode of snow-covered chaos contains. Yes you lot, you really are pretty epic and wonderfully resilient if you're ready to crack on again.

So get yourself a brew in, try not to spill it on your pillow and let's embrace this together.

You are my brothers and sisters from here on in. Just don't tell my real sister.

    We crack on...
