Three-time Winter Olympic snowboarding champion Shaun White says he is determined to bow out in style after confirming he will retire from the sport after the Games in Beijing.

American White, 35, who won his first gold in 2006 in Turin, said he is going "squeeze every bit of fun and excitement" out of his final Games and insists he is still good enough to compete.

"I'm the year of the tiger, and I was reading my personality traits," he said.

"It was pretty spot on about how competitive I am and how much I want to be in that limelight and do what I came here to do.

"The thing I'm the most proud of would be staying on top of a sport that's ever-changing for as long as I have.

"It's almost like fashion -- it's ever-changing, you're trying to guess the trend of what's going to happen and have your finger on the pulse.

"I really have an idea in my head of what I'd like to put down, and as long as I can put that down then I'm happy.

"That's how I approach every competition -- you've got to be content with your own riding and level."

China's gold-winning team of Qu Cohunyu, Fan Kexin, Wu Dajing and Ren Ziwei have been carrying their flag on a few laps of honour much to the delight of the local fans.

Italy got the silver, with Hungary taking bronze.

Short-track is China's most successful Winter Olympic sport, now accounting for 11 of the 14 gold medals they have ever won.

Here we have Savannah Harmon finishing to give the US the lead in their women's ice hockey fixture against the Russian Olympic Committee team.

Both sides won their opening fixture. The five teams in Group A all face one another but will all progress, while three of the five teams in Group B will go through as they are lower seeds.

So this Group A game is all about jostling for position and so far the US are in better shape in the early stages of the second period.

British luger Rupert Staudinger has slipped to 24th place after the first two runs of the men's luge but will be back on Sunday for the third - and potentially fourth run if he makes it into the top 20.

Germany's Johannes Ludwig leads the standings, which is no surprise as he is the World Cup champion but double Olympic champion Felix Loch being out of the medal positions in fourth.

And Georgian luger Saba Kumaritashvili has also completed two runs to make history for his country.

GB's Bruce Mouat speaking to BBC Sport's Steve Cram: We felt like we were playing well again, which is positive. We just need to sharpen up in a few areas. We've got the Chinese next and we have been very impressed with how they have performed.

It looked like it may have been a rushed decision by the Italians with their last stone but it wasn't.

They played really well. There were a few errors from Amos but Stefania played the big shots when it was needed.

Britain didn't play badly and with the games they have left there is no reason why they can't be winning those. They want to be in charge of their own destiny.

Big shot needed from GB now. They are on for one but that will not be enough. But wait...GB are in discussions - and they have conceded!

They felt they could not dislodge that Italy stone and have shaken hands.

Disappointment for GB as Italy maintain their 100% record,

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

Could we be about to see China's first medal of their home Games?

They will be racing in the final of the short-track mixed-team relay very soon.

It's a new event for these Games and features teams of four skaters - two men and two women - switching in and out over 18 laps.

Already a sport notorious for its crashes, this event throws up even more chances for the unpredictable...

Amos Mosaner was utterly convinced that yellow stone was closer. It was measured three times, and finally three it is.

Either way it's a pivotal score at this stage of the match.

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

It's a big task for GB now in the last end and they need to pick up three to try to force an extra end.

Italy will be looking not to make mistakes in this end and pick off GB stones when they can.

Amos Mosaner isn't happy. The umpire goes round twice and rules that GB's stone was narrowly closer - but Mosaner asks for it to be measured again.

Around goes the umpire once more and finally Mosaner is satisfied, he has to make do with three.

What a shot from Stefania Constantini.

Italy successfully dislodge GB's scoring stone and now could be on three, even four here.

    Out comes the measure.....

Good shot from Jen Dodds and lovely sweeping from Bruce Mouat to put GB on course for one point.

Italy call for a time out to plot their next move. They need to pull something special out of the bag with their final stone.

Well, this is tense. A brilliant effort by Jen Dodds to chip that Italian rock out and take two to level.

Now Italy go for their powerplay. It's going to the wire.

Jen Dodds does exploit that gap, lovely shot. Though the yellow Stone does not move as far as she hoped and GB have to be content with two rather than three.

Still, GB have levelled things up with two ends to play.

    This is close.

Lovely shot from Stefania Constantini. GB had four stones in the house but Italy's final stone sits just at the back of the button. There is a gap there though for Jen Dodds to exploit.

Big final stone coming up for GB.
