Strabane's James Gallagher required only 35 seconds to overcome American Roman Salazar at Bellator Dublin on Friday night.

The county Tyrone man forced his opponent to submit after producing a guillotine following Salazar's attempt at a takedown.

Gallagher jumped out of the cage to celebrate his victory with friend and MMA star Conor McGregor.

The 'Strabanimal' hopes to be in action again in Dublin early in 2020.

Earlier, Leah McCourt beat England's Kerry Hughes with a first-round submission.

The Saintfield fighter looked to use her range on the feet before she got her opponent to the ground with a hip throw.

She then wasted little time finishing with just over two minutes left of the first round.

The former Cage Warriors light heavyweight champion was making his Bellator debut, having spent 18 months away from the cage after knee and shoulder injuries.

Peter Queally stopped Ryan Scope in the second round of a sensational comeback victory which was celebrated by Conor McGregor, who jumped cageside to be with his team mate.

McGregor joined the Dublin crowd to support his team-mates

The 29-year-old had to survive a first-round scare, having twice been rocked with punches, but dominated the third round on the ground with several submission attempts.

Will Fluery against Norbert Novenyi was a major battle, with Fluery being dropped multiple times at the end of the first round.

The fight was close to being stopped on a few occasions but Fluery continued to fight back and survive.

The Dubliner grew back into the fight at the end but it was too little too late as Novenyi Jr. took the unanimous decision.

Frans Mlambo defeated Dominique Wooding by a unanimous decision in a dominant performance in which he floored his opponent several times early on with punches.

Kiefer Crosbie delivered for the vocal home crowd, defeating Portugal's Hugo Pereira by a unanimous decision. Crosbie produced a much more mature performance in front of vocal team-mate McGregor.

In the Bellator 227 main event, former UFC champion Benson Henderson took a unanimous decision over Myles Jury.
