MotoGP will bring in a Formula 1 style split qualifying system from the 2013 season.

The change will see the 10 fastest riders from the three practice sessions move straight through to a second qualifying session on Saturday.

The rest will first take part in another 15-minute session, with the top two moving into the second group.

The final 12 riders will then have just 15 minutes to post their fastest times and make up the grid for Sunday's race.

The changes only affect the MotoGP class, with support series in Moto3 and Moto2 keeping the current system, an hour-long session for all riders on Saturday afternoon.
