Poole Pirates boss Neil Middleditch said Thursday's Elite League Knockout Cup victory over Belle Vue Aces crowned off a memorable season for his side.
Victory over Belle Vue saw the Pirates win the league and cup double for the third time in their history as they beat the Aces 57-39 at Wimborne Road to earn a 102-86 aggregate victory.
Earlier in October they also beat Eastbourne to win the Elite League.
"Last night was the icing on the cake," Middleditch told BBC Radio Solent., external
He added: "The Elite League was the one we wanted, but to win the Knockout Cup just rounds off the season.
"The season has exceeded our expectations and I'm very pleased."
Middleditch also paid tribute to star riders Chris Holder and Darcy Ward who have been sensational for the Pirates this season.
The Poole boss, who has won four league titles, also believes that this is the best Pirates side he has ever put together.
"I think this is the best team I have assembled especially with Chris and Darcy. They have been phenomenal and a pleasure to work with," he added.
"They are the best of the best and the Pirates fans have been treated to a festival of speedway this season and I hope we can keep hold of them because they are box office."
