Stuart Easton wants to ride at North West 200 again

Scottish rider Stuart Easton says he is keen to race at the North West 200 again despite suffering potentially life-threatening injuries during practice for the event in May.

Easton has signed to ride for the Paul Bird Motorsport team in next year's British Superbike series.

"I have nothing against road racing and I want to do the North West again. My accident could have happened anywhere.

"I hope to be back, but it may be a long shot for next year," said Easton.

"I would definitely like to return to road racing, my accident hasn't put me off that at all.

"It was a freak incident caused by a mechanical failure.

"I love road racing 100%, but it may be next year's Macau Grand Prix before I do one again.

"Whether I do the North West next year will depend on Paul (Bird)'s plans for the team.

"He has MotoGP commitments, as well as three riders in BSB, so I may have to wait to go back to the North West."

The Hawick rider is making good progress from his injuries, which included a broken pelvis, a broken femur and serious hand injuries.

"I'm having another operation before Christmas and then I'll recover over the festive period, and hopefully be fit to test my Kawasaki bike in February.

"I'm in the gym regularly and getting lots of physiotherapy, so things are looking good," he added.
