MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez's participation in next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix is in doubt after he broke a finger during a crash in training.

Marquez broke the little finger on his left hand while dirt track racing and had a titanium plate fitted soon after.

"This will allow us to initiate functional recovery after 24 hours and give him a chance of racing at Jerez," head surgeon Dr Xavier Mir said.

Marquez's Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa is also sidelined due to injury.

In a statement,, external Honda said Marquez's participation in the Spanish GP "has not been ruled out".
