Yorkshire's Dean Harrison won the 500cc Classic TT race on the Isle of Man by 26 seconds from Welshman Ian Lougher.

Harrison, on board a Black Eagle MV Agusta, assumed the lead at Ramsey on the first lap and went on to take the win in the opening race of the meeting.

Harrison's team-mate Lee Johnston took the final podium place in the event.

Team Winfield pair John McGuinness and Ryan Farquhar retired their Patons at Ramsey on lap one, but Lougher was able to take runner-up on another Paton.

Lougher's challenge was effectively over after picking up a 30-second pit penalty at the end of the first lap, dropping him to eighth on the leaderboard.

McGuinness and Farquhar had impressed in qualifying and set the early pace in the race before retiring.

Michael Dunlop was contending for a rostrum position when he was reported as retired at the Mountain Box on the finak lap, leaving Jamie Coward to take fourth place.
