Welsh Feathers opened their inaugural Celtic Cup campaign with a hard-fought 58-56 win over Scotland.
Wales led at the end of the first and second quarters to go into half-time 35-28 ahead.
And they withstood late Scottish pressure to hold on for a narrow victory at Glasgow's Emirates Arena.
Wales return to action against Northern Ireland on Friday (18:00 GMT) before facing Zimbabwe in their final group stage match on Saturday (14:00 GMT).
The bottom two sides in the four-team group will face off in the play-offs at 12:00 GMT on Sunday, with the top two teams meeting in the main play-off match at 14:00 GMT.
