Michael Laverty secures British Superbike success at Snetterton

Michael Laverty secured a win and a second place at the British Superbike championship round at Snetterton.

The Toomebridge rider was runner-up behind Tommy Hill in race one, but won race two on his Samsung Honda, and now lies fourth in the series.

Ian Lowry is fifth in the standings after taking an eighth place finish, followed by a fourth in race two.

Keith Farmer was fifth in the 1000cc Superstock class while Jack Kennedy from Dublin won both Supersport races.

Clogher man Farmer is fourth in the series on 70 points.

Kennedy is competing in the colours of the Northern Ireland-based Mar-Train Yamaha Racing team.

Glenn Irwin was sixth and ninth in the Supersport races.

Alastair Seeley had another disappointing weekend, with two 16th positions in the Superbike class.

The other Tyco TAS Suzuki rider, Josh Brookes, recorded two third-place finishes, but leads the series on 124 points.

Hill is second on 123, followed by Shane Byrne on 108, Laverty on 81 and Lowry on 73.

Laverty expressed his delight after enduring a difficult start to the season.

"We had the pace right through testing, but had some bad luck in the early races, as well as some tyre issues.

"We identified the problems after Oulton, rectified them and it has paid dividends.

"We have got the front end feel back and we are getting the Honda back in the zone now.

"I managed to get away early in race two, but there are still some things we can improve on."
