Michael Laverty remains fourth in British Superbike series

Michael Laverty finished fourth and fifth in Sunday's British Superbike championship races at Oulton Park.

The Toomebridge rider had crashed out of the opening race while lying second on lap four on Saturday.

Reigning champion Tommy Hill won all three races, with Josh Brookes second and Shane Byrne third on each occasion.

Samsung Honda ace Laverty still lies fourth in the series, on 146 points, with Hill in front on 234, Brookes on 209 and Byrne on 205.

Lisburn rider Ian Lowry was sixth in race two and seventh in race three, with Alastair Seeley eighth and 13th.

Lowry fell off in race one while Seeley retired with mechanical problems.

On Saturday, Samsung Honda rider Laverty lost the front end at Britten's chicane on the fourth lap, with his fellow Northern Ireland racer Lowry also going down.

Seeley failed to capitalise on a second row start as his back brake locked solid at the end of lap eight.

John Laverty and Keith Farmer, deputising for Stuart Easton on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki, also failed to finish, but Farmer did manage to complete race three in which he was 20th.

Farmer was third in the British Superstock 1000 race, which was red-flagged after nine laps, but still leads the series by five points.

Glenn Irwin was sixth in the opening Supersport event and 10th in the second.

The next round will be at the Brands Hatch GP circuit on 22 July.
