Eugene Laverty finished second in both races in Sunday's World Superbike round at the Nurburgring in Germany.

The Toomebridge rider came in behind Aprilia team-mate Max Biaggi in the opener while Welshman Chaz Davies won the second race.

Ballyclare's Jonathan Rea failed to finish the first race before coming in fourth in the second race.

Rea is fifth and 92.5 points behind series leader Biaggi while Laverty is 12 points further back in sixth.

Ten Kate Honda rider Rea is set to replace the injured Casey Stoner for two rounds of the MotoGP series, in Misano and Aragon.
