Alastair Seeley took a victory in the opening round of the British Supersport series at Brands Hatch as he attempts to reclaim the title he won in 2011.

Carrickfergus rider Seeley won the second Supersport race after finishing third in Sunday's opener.

Maguiresbridge man Lee Johnston failed to finish the Superstock race.

Keith Farmer was sixth and 10th in the Superbike races, with Glenn Irwin (seventh) and William Dunlop (20th) in the Supersport class.

Seeley tops the Supersport standings by a point while Irwin, who didn't finish race two, is down in 10th.

It was a disappointing weekend for Dunlop, who was well back in the opener before crashing out unhurt on lap 15 of the second race.

Antrim's John Simpson came 19th and 18th in the Supersports, with Nikki Coates doing slightly better in 16th and 15th.

Johnston had won the 'Last Chance Qualifier' race earlier in the day but was unable to repeat the feat in the main Superstock event.

Defending champion Shane Byrne and James Ellison were the Superbike race winners, with Byrne leading the series ahead of the second round of races next weekend.

Marty Nutt was second and third in the Ducati Challenge 848 races.
