NI riders Josh Elliott and Glenn Irwin win at Snetterton

Josh Elliott holds a 12-point lead over nearest challenger Hudson Kennaugh

Northern Ireland riders Josh Elliott and Glenn Irwin secured impressive British Superstock 1000 and Supersport victories respectively at Snetterton.

Elliott edged out Alastair Seeley to take a thrilling win by 0.075 seconds.

Elliott leads the series on 110 points, with South African Hudson Kennaugh second on 98 and Seeley third with 86.

Irwin won the feature Supersport event and now trails series leader Luke Stapleford by five points, with third-placed Kyle Ryde a point behind Irwin.

Irwin was able to pick up the pieces after Stapleford collected Ryde on the final lap to bag his first Supersport win of the year with three seconds to spare.

Jordanstown rider Andy Reid is tied for fifth in the championship after taking third in Saturday's 10-lap sprint race, but then crashing out in race two, suffering a fractured bone in his heal.

Reid came through from ninth position on his Team Traction Control Yamaha to make the podium for the second meeting in succession, having also clinched third place in the previous round at Oulton Park.

Carrickfergus rider Irwin took a fantastic fifth spot in the opener after being forced to start from the back row of the grid on the Gearlink Kawasaki.

The 25-year-old had qualified on row two in fourth place but a mistake on the sighting lap cost him the chance of taking up his place near the front of the grid.

Fermanagh rider Elliott won by 0.075 seconds from Tyco BMW-mounted Seeley to make it two successes and three second places from five outings this season.

Tyco BMW rider Seeley qualified in pole position for the Superstock outing but was forced to settle for runner-up spot behind his Morello Kawasaki racing compatriot in the 14-lap race.

Seeley held the lead on the final lap and looked to be set to secure his second victory of the year but Elliot had other ideas.

Elliott pulled alongside around the sweeping right hander of Corrams before block passing his way into the lead at the following left hander of Murrays. A big wheelie from Seeley halted his momentum and Elliot held on to take the chequered flag.

In the Superbike events, Toomebridge rider Michael Laverty failed to finish race one but took a creditable fourth place in race two for the Moneymore-based Tyco TAS BMW outfit.
