Saintfield woman Leah McCourt wins European MMA gold medal

Leah McCourt won a Brazilian Jui-Jitsu World Championship bronze medal earlier this year

Saintfield woman Leah McCourt has clinched gold at the European International Mixed Martial Arts Federation Championships in Birmingham.

The Northern Irishwoman defeated Finland's Mia Isola on a unanimous decision in the lightweight final.

Earlier this year, the 23-year-old won a bronze medal at the Brazilian Jui-Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi.

McCourt, who is the proud mother of four-year-old Isabella, has previously won a European Jui-Jitsu gold medal.
