Sean Cavanagh has ended speculation over his future by confirming he will remain with Tyrone next year.

The 33-year-old Red Hands captain was sent-off in the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat by Mayo in August.

"Hope to be fit & healthy enough to pull on my beloved Red Hand jersey in 2017. Couldn't finish like that," Cavanagh tweeted.

He also tweeted 'One For The Road...' on Tuesday, suggesting that 2017 will be his his final inter-county campaign.

Cavanagh, who will representing Tyrone for a 16th year, has won three All-Ireland titles along with five All Stars.
