Ireland's home Six Nations games can be played in front of full houses after the Irish Government lifted restrictions on crowd numbers imposed to help curb the spread of Covid-19.

Capacity inside sports stadiums in the Republic of Ireland had been limited to 50% or 5,000 but this will cease to be the case from 06:00 GMT on Saturday.

Restrictions on numbers able to attend indoor events will also be lifted.

Ireland begin their Six Nations campaign against Wales on 5 February.

In addition to that game in Dublin, the Aviva Stadium will also play host to Ireland's matches against Italy on 27 February and Scotland on 19 March.

The removal of the restrictions will also benefit GAA's Football and Hurling Leagues which will commence on 29 and 30 January, as well as Munster's Champions Cup clash with Wasps on Sunday.
