Career highlights

Fox-Pitt medalled at each of the last two Olympics and has won six European team titles as well as World Championship team gold in 2010.

He is a record six-time winner of the Burghley Horse Trials and has also triumphed at the other two Grand Slam events at Badminton and Kentucky.

Career lowlights

He was one of the favourites for individual gold at the 2004 Olympics but his horse Tamarillo picked up an injury in the cross-country phase.

He missed out on selection for the 2000 Olympics, having made his debut at the 1996 Games.

Personal

The Old Etonian started riding aged four. His mother was in the British Three-Day Eventing team, while his father competed at Badminton and Burghley.

He is married to Channel 4 horse racing presenter Alice Plunkett.
