Rio Olympics 2016: Germany win men's double kayak 1,000m gold

World champions Max Rendschmidt and Marcus Gross held off a challenge from Serbia to win gold

Germany's Max Rendschmidt and Marcus Gross put in an impressive performance as they won Olympic gold in the men's double kayak 1,000m final.

The pair led at the 250m mark after a strong start and never gave up the lead as they finished in three minutes 10.781 seconds.

Serbia duo Marko Tomicevic and Milenko Zoric made a late charge but claimed silver, 0.188secs behind.

Australia's Ken Wallace and Lachlan Tame were third.
