We're in for a blockbuster Tuesday at the Olympics with the focus very much on Josh Kerr's gripping showdown with rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the men's 1500m final.

It could be a race for the ages at Stade de France on Tuesday night with Neil Gourley also involved, and there is plenty more besides with more Scots in medal action.

At the velodrome, Jack Carlin goes in the team sprint, while Scott Brash is contending for more showjumping glory at the Palace of Versailles.

Laura Muir gets her 1500m campaign started, while Anna Burnet and partner John Gimson continue their push to make the final of the mixed multihull sailing.

Which Scots are competing & when?

Whatever you do, make sure you you get yourself in front of a screen for 19:50 BST.

That's the scheduled start time for the men's 1500m final, when Edinburgh's Kerr attempts to become the first Scot since Alan Wells in 1980 to win an Olympic gold medal on the track.

There are 11 other men standing in his way, chief among them is the defending champion Ingebrigtsen.

The Norwegian got the better of Kerr in the semi-finals, but it's fair to say both were holding something back.

Can Kerr repeat his feat of a year ago in Budapest when he bested his rival to win the world title? Or will it be revenge for Ingebrigtsen?

Also in the mix though is Glasgow's Gourley, who has quietly gone about his business efficiently in reaching the final after a bad run of injuries last winter.

In the morning session, Tokyo silver medallist Muir starts in the 1500m heats (10:05).

It's been a challenging three years since the last Games for Muir, after her split from long-term coach Andy Young.

However, the 31-year-old broke her own British record when she came third in the Diamond League meeting in Paris a month ago.

Brash, from Peebles, will try to double his medal tally at these Games in the individual show jumping final (09:00) having already secured the second gold of his career in the team event.

He and horse Jefferson finished in 12th place in qualifying.

In the evening at the velodrome it is Carlin's turn to try to claim another team sprint medal.

The 27-year-old has a silver to his name from Tokyo, and will race alongside Ed Lowe and Hamish Turnbull in the round one, having qualified second fastest.

The fastest four teams across the four head-to-head heats progress to the medal races.

And Scotland's Burnet - and her sailing partner Gimson - remain in a good position as the qualifying rounds in the mixed Nacra sailing event continue.

The Team GB duo, who won a silver medal at the last Olympics, are placed fourth overall after Monday's sailing off the Marseilles coast.

The remaining three qualifying rounds take place tomorrow.

The top ten teams after 12 races will compete for medals on Thursday.
