Matt Richards has failed to reach the 100m freestyle final at the Paris Olympics, but went on to help the 200m freestyle relay team retain their title.
He finished sixth in his semi-final in 48.09 - 12th fastest overall. Only the quickest eight make tomorrow’s final.
The setback came 24 hours after Welshman Richards won silver in the 200m freestyle final.
However, Richards won gold later in the day with fellow Welshman Keiran Bird, who had helped GB qualify for the final, also took home gold.
