Coleraine rowers Richard Chambers and Joel Cassells have both progressed to finals at the World Championships in France after winning their semi-finals.

Chambers and his British team-mate Will Fletcher took a comfortable win over Norway and Germany in their lightweight double sculls semi-final.

That performance secures Olympic qualification for Britain in the class.

Joel Cassells and his team-mate Sam Scrimgeour won their semi-final in the non-Olympic lightweight pairs event

Cassells and Scrimgeour finished ahead of the Italian and Australian boats in Aiguebelette.

The regatta doubles up as the main route of Olympic qualification for Rio 2016 and that will initially be the main focus for all the competitors.

The top nine in the singles sculls and top 11 in the lightweight double sculls and lightweight four will all secure Olympic places.
