Huddersfield scrum-half Danny Brough has been ruled out for eight weeks after injuring his ankle in Sunday's 40-18 win against Castleford.

Scans have revealed that Brough, 28, has suffered ligament damage.

And, following his England call-up, the former Scotland skipper will now miss Friday's international against the Exiles at Headingley.

Huddersfield are also anxiously awaiting the results of a scan on full-back Scott Grix's shoulder.

Grix left the field in the second half against Castleford before returning as a substitute for Brough.

In addition to missing Huddersfield's next seven Super League matches, Brough will sit out the Challenge Cup quarter-final at Castleford on 23 July.

But he should be available for the semis on the first weekend of August if the Giants get through.

"It is unfortunate for us, for Danny and for England. He's been in terrific form," said Giants coach Nathan Brown.

"He definitely won't be able to take part for England. He'd earned the right to play for England with his consistency."

In 16 league appearances this season, Brough has scored 163 points - the third-highest total in Super League - eight of which came on Sunday before he was forced off.

Huddersfield's seven-try victory against Castleford at The Shay moved the Giants back into second place in Super League, level on points with leaders Warrington.
