Woods still has two years left on his deal at Huddersfield

Former Wakefield half-back Kyle Wood back has returned to the club from Huddersfield on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old began his career at Wakefield before spells at Doncaster, Sheffield and finally Huddersfield.

He told the Wakefield website: , external"It's a matter of coming here and trying to get some more game time and a regular first team place.

"Richard [Agar] seems to give young lads a try, gets them out on the field and gives them an opportunity."

Wood joined Huddersfield in 2009 , externalbut found first-team opportunities limited and has been on loan at Castleford and Batley.

He added: "I've played a couple of games here and there but I've found that you get better when you can play consecutive games.

"That's what I've got to aim for. I want to have a good pre-season and hopefully Rich will pick me."

Agar said: "Kyle is a player who has been learning his craft from some very talented half-backs at the Giants and he now has the opportunity to use that experience to try and establish himself in Super League.

"He has also had the chance to get some game time in the Championship and like all the players that we have signed for next year, he joins up with a real hunger to be successful for Wakefield.

"He's another piece in the puzzle for next season and I'm excited at what he can bring to the squad."
