Widnes Vikings: Patrick Ah Van wants Samoa World Cup call-up
- Published
Patrick Ah Van is keen to find his best form for Widnes Vikings this season, as he is aiming to represent Samoa at the Rugby League World Cup later this year.
But the 25-year-old winger, who has played for Samoa despite being born in New Zealand, knows competition for a place will be extremely fierce.
"All I've got to do is play my best and hope," he told the Super League Show.
"I want to play but there are so many great players out there in the NRL and Super League that play in my position."
The former Bradford Bulls man continued: "Samoa have a strong team. There are so many talented Samoans out there.
"There's experience there with Ali Lauitiiti [Wakefield], Tony Puletua and Francis Meli [both St Helens], and there are heaps of youngsters coming through as well."
Ah Van has crossed five times for the Vikings this season, after ending 2012 as the club's top scorer with 14 Super League tries.
