Wigan Warriors could be without half-back Blake Green for up to six weeks because of an ankle injury.

The 26-year-old was hurt in Wigan's 46-14 Challenge Cup win at his former club Hull Kingston Rovers on Sunday.

Rovers forward Cory Paterson was charged by the Rugby Football League for the tackle which forced Green off.

With Matty Smith also out, coach Shaun Wane may pair youngsters Sam Powell and George Williams at half-back against London Broncos on Saturday.

Wane told BBC Radio Manchester: "I don't think it's a gamble. I want to find out about George and I'm genuinely excited about seeing him play.

"He's a tough, resilient character and I'll back him against anybody. It's another half-back partnership that we need to see. You never know, in big games down the line, you might need them again."

Australia-born Green joined Wigan from Hull KR ahead of the 2013 season and the success of his partnership with Smith has been one of the main reasons for Wigan's rise to the top of Super League.
