Craig Sandercock: Hull KR offer coach new one-year deal

Hull KR coach Craig Sandercock has been offered a new contract and is expected to make a decision by the end of the week, BBC Radio Humberside reports.

The Australian met with Robins chief executive Mike Smith on Monday evening and was offered a 12-month extension.

Sandercock, 42, signed a two-year deal to replace Justin Morgan in 2011 after spending two years as Newcastle Knights assistant coach in Australia's NRL.

Rovers finished 10th in Super League in 2012, five points off the play-offs.

This season has followed a similar course so far, with the Robins ninth in the table after wining seven of their 16 matches.

Fellow Australian Morgan was in charge at Craven Park from 2005 to 2011, qualifying for the Super League play-offs in each of his last three seasons.

Morgan led Hull KR to fourth in 2009, their highest top-flight finish since winning back-to-back Rugby Football League Championships in 1984 and 1985.
