Castleford Tigers sign Frankie Mariano from Wakefield Wildcats

Castleford Tigers have agreed a deal to sign Wakefield forward Frankie Mariano on a one-year contract for the 2014 Super League season.

Mariano joined the Wildcats from Hull KR in 2010 and has made 46 league appearances for Richard Agar's side.

"I'm sure a few fans won't be happy with me crossing to the local rivals but that's rugby league," the 26-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I'm sure I'll make some great friends at Cas and I'm looking forward to it."

He added: "Hopefully I can get a starting shirt at Castleford and that will bring my best game out of me.

"I had a couple of weeks with [head coach] Daryl [Powell] at Featherstone and hopefully he liked what he saw when I was there."
