Bradford Bulls: Sammut & Carvell exits have 'created confusion'

Bradford Bulls chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul believes the exits of Jarrod Sammut and Garreth Carvell have caused "confusion" about the stability of the club.

Scrum-half Sammut, 27, joined Wakefield on the eve of the Bulls' Super League season opening loss to Castleford.

Prop Carvell, 32, made the switch to Hull FC two days earlier.

"It creates confusion inside the ranks of players and on the terraces," Hunter-Paul told the Super League Show.

"To be honest, it has been a tough week as well. That is not the type of adversity you want."

Bradford are taking legal action against Carvell after he quit, arguing the former Great Britain international was not free to walk out.

Carvell joined the Bulls from Warrington after the 2013 season, but has never featured in a competitive fixture for the side.

He reportedly believes that his two-year contract has not been transferred to the new company running Bradford following a change in ownership in January, therefore making him a free agent.

But Hunter-Paul does not expect any more players to join Carvell and Sammut in quitting the club.

"I'm pretty confident with the squad that we've got now, that everyone is set in their ways," he said.

"I take my hat off to the players, they have had to really bed down - they are all in it together.

"The ethos they have now is that if you don't want to be with the team, they don't want you there."
