Super League: Hull FC 44-16 Bradford Bulls

Jamie Shaul scored twice as Hull FC ran in eight tries to power to victory over Bradford Bulls.

Matt Diskin's early score put the Bulls ahead, but Hull hit back through Gareth Ellis, Joe Westerman and Shaul.

Adrian Purtell narrowed the gap before Richard Whiting, Aaron Heremaia and Danny Houghton ensured the hosts led 32-10 at the break.

Shaul scored his second and Jordan Rankin also went over, while Adam Henry grabbed a consolation for the Bulls.

It had seemed that Bradford might enjoy a successful evening when they took advantage of a sloppy start by the hosts, Diskin barging over from dummy half after only 90 seconds with Jamie Foster adding the extras.

However, the lead did not last long as Ellis found a gap in the line to go over and Whiting's kick made it 6-6.

The hosts then moved ahead with two tries in as many minutes - the first converted by Whiting - as Westerman forced himself over to the right of the posts and Shaul took advantage of great work by Fetuli Talanoa.

Bradford, though, were offered a glimmer of hope when Purtell touched down at full stretch in the left-hand corner to narrow the gap to six points.

But Foster missed the kick at goal and Hull responded by upping the gears and scoring three more tries before the break.

Whiting missed the conversation after he crossed himself, Heremaia grabbed a try after a move through the middle and then Houghton burst through to the left of the posts.

Hull's 22-point half-time lead was extended when Shaul went over for his second try to the right of the posts after Richard Horne's grubber kick - and Whiting slotted his fifth successful kick of the night.

Replacement Rankin pushed his way easily through the Bradford defence and converted his own try.

Henry's late score was Bradford's third try, but by then the Bulls - who have been deducted six competition points for going into administration - were soundly beaten and left rooted to the bottom of the table.

Hull FC coach Lee Radford:

"The second half was a little bit disappointing but I thought some of the footy we played in the first half was really pleasing.

"Before the game I said I wanted a result from anywhere and to play any way.

"We did that and I think that is important going into next week's fixture (at Castleford)."

Bradford coach Francis Cummins:

"We got down there twice in the first half and scored both times.

"We just came up with error after error and it seemed to be what could go wrong went wrong.

"It can be a cruel game if you want to give the ball away and especially when Hull are playing well like that.

"They have got some big fellas who can start to get some momentum and we just kept handing it back to them."
