Challenge Cup: Bradford Bulls 10-46 Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves eased into the last four of the Challenge Cup, running in eight tries in a convincing win over struggling Bradford Bulls.

Richie Myler and Joel Monaghan both scored twice, while Ryan Atkins, Matty Russell, Gene Ormsby and Ben Currie also crossed for the visitors.

Elliot Kear and Luke George replied for Bradford, who can now concentrate on their Super League relegation battle.

Warrington join Widnes, Leeds and Castleford in the semi-finals.

And the Wire remain on course for a fourth Challenge Cup win in six seasons after a dominant display in Yorkshire, although they must first overcome Leeds Rhinos to reach Wembley in August.

A chance to reach the last four of the Challenge Cup had provided a welcome distraction for Bradford, who are still waiting to discover if their appeal against a six-point deduction for entering administration will be successful.

But their early indiscipline gave Warrington a significant territorial advantage in the opening stages and it eventually proved costly as the Bulls were penalised near their own line, allowing Wolves scrum-half Myler to score the game's first try.

The hosts responded through winger Kear in the corner, but a Bradford error from the resulting kick-off put Warrington back in prime position and Atkins took advantage, crossing from close range.

Full-back Russell added a third under the posts as the visitors took a 14-point lead into half-time.

George ran in from 60 metres to bring Bradford back into contention, but Warrington, whose last defeat came against Bradford in Super League on 4 May, created an overlap on the right touchline for Gene Ormsby to restore their 14-point lead.

Quickfire tries from Myler, who dived over from the play-the-ball for his second, and two for Monaghan settled the game as a contest, before young forward Currie completed the rout from five metres out.

One negative for Warrington was a calf injury suffered by joint-captain Michael Monaghan, which could sideline the veteran Australian hooker for several weeks.

Bradford Bulls coach Francis Cummins:

"Warrington played well but we produced a lot of yardage error. We had a lot of energy in the first half but came up with some simple errors and compounded them, which caught up with us in the second half.

"In warm conditions, if you are allowing the opposition repeat sets and field position, you are having to work twice as hard."

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith:

"In terms of performance, it was pleasing. I thought we did a good job in the first half considering it was one of slowest halves I've watched for a long time.

"We had to speed the game up if we were to win that game and I think we did that in the second half. We felt we'd get some opportunities if we were a bit smarter and a bit faster with the ball."
