Super League: Leeds Rhinos 30-6 Hull KR
- Published
Rob Burrow became the Super League's eighth all-time leading try scorer as Leeds beat Hull KR to stay second.
After no score in the first half, Burrow went over to equal Pat Richards' impressive tally and he wrapped the game up with his 148th all-time try.
Liam Sutcliffe, Carl Ablett and Danny McGuire also went over for the hosts, with Josh Hodgson replying for Hull KR.
Burrow then added his second try, with Kevin Sinfield kicking his fifth goal from five attempts.
Leeds remain a point behind leaders St Helens, who won 46-22 at home against Bradford.
It took until almost an hour for the game's first try when Burrow, who had been out of action since breaking his collarbone at the end of April, darted over from dummy half.
A Sutcliffe try quickly followed and then Ablett was first to McGuire's kick, as Leeds opened up a 18-0 lead with three tries in eight minutes.
Hodgson threw a dummy to go over as the visitors got their first points on the board, before Sinfield found McGuire in support on the break to eased any Leeds nerves, while Burrow's second try was the icing on the cake.
Leeds head coach Brian McDermott:
"It was very good to have Rob (Burrow) back, we certainly missed him.
"You try to fashion a way of attacking and being as good without your key personnel when they are missing through injury or suspension and you've got to continue and come up with a different way.
"But sometimes you don't know what you'll miss until they are not there and we've definitely missed him. He had a huge impact and looked good."
Hull KR caretaker coach Chris Chester:
"It was a good arm wrestle for 60 minutes and I thought we were getting over the top of them.
"They just had a little bit too much speed for us in the end and Rob Burrow killed us.
"The effort and commitment (they showed), that's all I want from them. I said to them after the game, I don't think the scoreline reflected the game.
"I don't think Leeds beat us, we beat ourselves with stupid dumb errors that we made in good ball.
"It comes down to concentration and I'm just scratching my head a little bit."
