Setaimata Sa scores Hull FC's second try against local rivals Hull KR

Tom Lineham ran in two tries as Hull FC dented the Super League play-off hopes of local rivals Hull KR with a convincing five-try victory.

Fetuli Talanoa and Setaimata Sa scored first-half tries for the hosts to give them a 12-0 lead at the break.

Lineham went over twice in the second half, with Jordan Thompson crashing over in between, as the home side secured a famous derby win.

Hull KR are two points behind eighth place and Catalan have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Hull FC are a point worse off and both rivals have only two matches left in their seasons.

Despite Hull KR making the early running, it was the hosts who got the first points on the board.

Kirk Yeaman's pass was juggled by Talanoa but he kept calm to land the game's first try in the corner, although Jordan Rankin missed the conversion.

Rankin was successful with his second attempt at goal moments after making the pass for Sa to jink over for a second try on nine minutes.

Hull FC stretched the lead to 12 points at the break when Rankin's two-pointer went over to complete an excellent first half for Lee Radford's side.

Lineham found himself in acres of space on the right wing and scored in the corner, although Rankin missed the goal attempt, but he was successful six minutes later when Thompson crashed over.

A powering run the length of the pitch brought Lineman his second try as he touched down under the posts to seal a memorable night for the hosts, with Rankin's fourth successful kick the icing on the cake.

Hull FC coach Lee Radford:

"You see the derby performance, you watch the St Helens game and then you say if that team turns up every week, then the competition should watch out.

"I thought from start to finish we were really physically dominant.

"I didn't hide my disappointment after the Bradford game and I've not hid it in and around the training ground.

"Everybody sensed that and the response that we got was fantastic."

Hull KR boss Chris Chester:

"Embarrassing...pathetic...soft. We just got out-enthused all game, simple as.

"The season is over. We spoke before the game about creating some history and we certainly did that - 28-0.

"I'm fuming and I've let them know. I just feel sorry for the people that paid their money tonight because that wasn't acceptable."
