Hull KR winger Josh Mantellato has now landed 35 goals this season

Hull KR won their third game in a row to climb to fourth in Super League as Huddersfield suffered their second defeat of the Easter weekend.

Rovers led 8-6 at the break thanks to tries from Darrell Goulding and Graeme Horne either side of a converted try from visiting centre Joe Wardle.

Ukume Ta'ai's converted try briefly put the Giants in front before tries from Albert Kelly and Josh Mantellato.

Aaron Murphy's unconverted late try came too late to affect the outcome.

Mantellato kicked the final two of his four conversion attempts as the Robins, having beaten Hull FC on Thursday night, recorded their first Easter weekend double in the Super League era.

Danny Brough kicked his first two conversions for the Giants, who drop to seventh in the table.

Huddersfield lacked composure and discipline at times, ending up on the wrong end of a heavy penalty count from referee Phil Bentham, which helped Rovers get the better of them.

The Giants also badly missed forward Brett Ferres, who had a scan on his ankle injury after an incident in the 18-12 Good Friday home defeat by Salford which has left Rangi Chase charged by the RFL and facing a possible ban.

Hull KR coach Chris Chester:

"I'm really pleased with the effort from the boys. It's hard to back up after a derby. It was a scrappy game but we thought it would be.

"To come away with two wins over Easter is really satisfying. We dug deep for each other and if we continue to do that, results will come.

"I wasn't happy with the way we defended. They won the energy battle and it looked like they had the shorter turnaround.

"But I gave the players a rocket at half-time and that seemed to work. I'm delighted to have got the win over a good Huddersfield team."

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson:

"Errors and penalties cost us. Somebody told me the penalty count was 13-2. We weren't that bad but we had an inability to stay composed.

"We need to stick to game plan and structure and stay composed. We were slightly better than Salford on Friday.

"Brett Ferres is a big loss and we need to practice without him. He has had a scan and it's not looking good. He's facing up to three months on sidelines.

"It was a coward's tackle. It was disgraceful. Rangi has some history in my opinion. It was a blatant attack on the standing leg."
