Super League: Wakefield Wildcats 20-40 Warrington Wolves

Matty Russell has now scored four tries in eight Super League games

Jacob Miller's four tries were not enough for bottom side Wakefield as Warrington head coach Tony Smith overcame brother Brian's side.

Despite Miller scoring twice in the first half, Wolves led through tries from Stefan Ratchford, Joe Philbin, Matty Russell and Ben Westwood.

Daryl Clark, Ritchie Myler and a second from Russell followed, but Miller touched down twice again for the hosts.

Wire confirm their place in the Super 8s, while Wakefield remain bottom.

The visitors opened the scoring when Chris Hill broke superbly and laid off to Ratchford, who powered away to score.

Wolves increased their lead after Philbin reacted first to a terrible mistake by Jordan Tansey, who juggled the ball on his own line.

Miller got the hosts back into the game with a try from short range, but full-back Russell and forward Westwood further increased Wolves' lead.

Before the break, Miller danced his way through five Warrington players for a brilliant solo try to make it 10-22 at half-time.

And scrum-half Miller continued where he left off following the restart, completing his hat-trick from close range, however Tony Smith's side scored two tries in two minutes when Clark and the Catalans-bound Ritchie Myler stretched their lead.

Miller capped off a superb individual display when he beat Brad Dwyer for his fourth try of the game, before Russell wrapped up the points with his second and Warrington's seventh try four minutes from time.

Wakefield head coach Brian Smith:

"Tony's boys pretty much took up where they left off last week with their defence.

"Warrington have got a great squad and some highly-skilled players - I thought the quickness of both their dummy halves did some damage to us.

"I thought we made some more progress and also regressed a little today."

Warrington head coach Tony Smith told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"It was pretty low key in terms of sibling rivalry. We just got on with doing our jobs.

"We're breathing down a few necks, people might start to consider us again.

"If we don't have anymore injuries we'll give a few teams a shake this year."
