Super League: Leeds Rhinos 20-11 Hull Kingston Rovers

Super League champions Leeds came from behind to beat Hull KR and preserve their unbeaten start to the season, as Jimmy Keinhorst scored a hat-trick.

Rovers dominated the opening half-hour and were 10-0 up through tries from Ryan Shaw and Adam Quinlan, but Leeds levelled the scores through Adam Cuthbertson and Keinhorst.

Chris Atkin's drop-goal edged the visitors back ahead after the break.

Keinhorst crossed twice in the final 15 minutes to hand the Rhinos victory.

The hosts, playing at Elland Road while work is being carried out at Headingley, had to be patient during a performance which contained several handling errors in wet and greasy conditions.

Keinhorst, returning to the side after Joel Moon was injured in training, turned the match with 13 minutes left as he cut inside and caught out former team-mate Danny McGuire to make it 14-11, with Richie Myler adding the conversion.

Rovers had complaints that Chris Clarkson was being obstructed by Cuthbertson in the build-up to the score, and Shaw was denied a late try because of an obstruction on Carl Ablett.

Keinhorst's third, after Ryan Hall had smartly gathered Myler's high kick, boosted Leeds before Brian McDermott's side fly to Australia, where they will face Melbourne Storm in the World Club Challenge on Friday, 16 February (09:00 GMT).

Leeds coach Brian McDermott:

"It was a convincing win and we showed some class. We're not going to be great every week. We're going to have to show something other than just skill and that was epitomised.

"Our goal-line defence was pretty special and there were some momentum-changing carries from Ryan Hall, who was again very impressive.

"Credit to Jim Keinhorst. He took his chance with both hands. He showed some good feet and some class."

Hull KR coach Tim Sheens:

"We took a huge step forward tonight from where we were last year, let alone last week, but we still didn't get the points.

"Our defence was pretty good. There is no doubt that Chris Clarkson was obstructed when they scored the try that put them in front.

"At the end of the day, they had that little bit of class to finish us but I'm very proud of the effort."
