Hull FC, fourth in Super League, eased to victory over third-placed Championship side Featherstone

Holders Hull FC reached the last eight of the Challenge Cup with victory at Championship side Featherstone despite finishing the match with nine men.

Three players were shown yellow cards and Bureta Faraimo saw red late on.

The Black and Whites, cup winners in each of the past two seasons, earlier scored three tries without reply to assume control of the sixth-round tie.

Luke Briscoe crossed twice for Rovers, equalling a world record by scoring a try for the 17th match in succession.

Briscoe beat the modern-day record of 15 consecutive games, set by ex-Great Britain international Martin Offiah for Widnes in 1987, in his previous outing for Featherstone.

His first-half score against Hull drew him level with Eric Harris, who posted the mark for Leeds in 1935-36, but Briscoe's milestone could not prevent the Super League club progressing comfortably into Sunday's quarter-final draw.

Jake Connor and Faraimo both touched down twice for Hull, while Sika Manu, Jamie Shaul and Josh Griffin added further scores.

But victory came at a cost as Josh Bowden, Carlos Tuimavave and Fetuli Talanoa all went off injured.

A total of six players were sin-binned, while Hull winger Faraimo saw red for a late tackle on Anthony Thackeray.
