Jodie Broughton scored his eighth try in four games to help a resurgent Catalans consign champions Leeds to a third straight Super League defeat.

Tries from Benjamin Jullien, Ben Garcia and Michael McIlorum helped Catalans lead 17-4 at the break, with Ash Handley grabbing Leeds' only points.

Early second-half tries from Brett Ferres and Ryan Hall gave Rhinos hope.

However, Tony Gigot, Josh Drinkwater and Broughton tries saw Dragons prevail for their fifth win in six games.

A last-minute Brad Dwyer effort was of little consequence for Brian McDermott's side, who remain sixth in the table and 13 points adrift of leaders St Helens.

Dragons move up up to 10th and to within a point of the top eight after securing back-to-back wins in Super League for the first time this season, with a defeat to Saints the only blemish on a fine recent run by Steve McNamara's men.

And the hosts - who introduced controversial new addition Kenny Edwards to the crowd before the game - looked sharp early on in Perpignan, with tries from Jullien, Garcia and McIlorum all coming inside the opening 19 minutes.

Leeds' first-half points came while Dragons were a man down, with Sam Moa sin-binned for a high shot on Richie Myler, but Gigot ensured the hosts went in at the break with a deserved 13-point lead after landing a drop goal.

While Leeds reduced the arrears to three points with 26 minutes to play, tries from Gigot and Drinkwater in quick succession helped Dragons see out the win.
