Hull FC put in a sensational defensive performance to edge an excellent Super League game against Leeds Rhinos.
Liam Sutcliffe drove over to send Leeds ahead but Adam Swift responded with a pair of fabulous tries for Hull.
Josh Griffin's try helped pad out their lead before the break as Hull opened up a 10-point advantage.
In a highly-charged second half, Leeds gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Tom Briscoe scored late on but it was too late as Hull saw out the victory.
Griffin's try - the 100th of his career - was the high point for Hull, who came from behind in front of a partisan home crowd at Emerald Headingley to gain a strong foothold for much of the game.
Leeds piled on the pressure in the second half, however, and there was a brawl at the sidelines involving both sides after the break after Briscoe looked to have scored having rolled over the line for the hosts.
Hull's Andre Savelio was in the thick of the aftermath with both teams reacting angrily before the try was disallowed having gone to video referee James Child.
Just moments after the restart, Richie Myler touched down but once again the try was not given after video replays showed Sutcliffe knocked on in the build-up.
Briscoe eventually did cross over with four minutes left but Rhyse Martin missed the extras to extinguish the hosts' slim chances of forcing a win.
